Muthambi defends SABC
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
Minister of Communication Faith Muthambi says the SABC acted within the law when it decided to ban the broadcast of the destruction of public property during protests.
Muthambi met with resident of the Ga-Mothapo village near Polokwane to promote government's Broadcasting Digital Migration.
She told JacarandaFM News, when asked about the controversies, the public broadcaster is doing what it's supposed to do.
"The SABC operates within the legislation that is the Broadcasting Act and the Broadcast Code of Conduct as provided by the BCCSA and also in terms of their licence agreements," she said.
Muthambi is due to meet the ANC on Monday, after her party came out strongly against the SABC's editorial decision.
