My life, my children's lives are being threatened, Zuma tells the commission

Former president Jacob Zuma has told the commission of inquiry into state capture that his personal assistant received an anonymous call on Monday night with a threat to kill him and his children.

Zuma appeared at the commission for a second day on Tuesday.

He told the commission on Monday there was a plan being executed by intelligence organisations working with some ANC officials to end his career in the party.

"My PA from the ANC's side was phoned by a person she does not know and this person said ‘you must tell Zuma that we are going to kill him, his children and some people around him’. So she informed me this morning."

Zuma said this follows threats made to his senior counsel Muzi Sikhakhane a few weeks ago.

Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo suggested the commission could do little to provide more protection for Zuma as he already enjoys presidential protection.
