N1 Samrand to close temporarily for power lines installation
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
Eskom has warned motorists of a temporary road closure on the N1 highway between the M36 Kosmosdal-Samrand interchange and R101 Rooihuiskraal interchange in Midrand over the weekend.

This is to allow power utility's technicians to install new overhead transmission power lines and a conductor.
The road will be affected from Saturday 6am to 6pm and again on Sunday from 6am to 12am.
The road closure is expected to last for at least 30 minutes in intervals.
It is expected to affect traffic in both north and south directions.
Tshwane Metropolitan Police Department (TMPD) spokesperson, Isaac Mahamba says officers will be deployed to manage and monitor the diversion of traffic and to ensure minimal disruptions.
"Complete closures may be needed when cables are being pulled across the road. Adjustments to the closure schedule may also be made depending on weather conditions at the time,” he says.
"Those who cannot avoid these roads will be directed to use the R101 detour route. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes such as the following, Olifantsfontein Road, R55, N14 Highway."
