N4 between Pretoria and Rustenburg closed amid protests

Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone says protestors claim a community members went missing following an incident involving a local farmer.

"It is alleged that three people were shot at by a farmer at the beginning of the month for stealing oranges, but now one of those people is now missing.

"So the community went to the farmer's house to demand that person back," says Mokgwabone.

He says police are keeping an eye on the situation in Majakaneng. 

Motorists have been advised to use alternatives in getting to Rustenburg.
