National Assembly unanimously recommends Tsakani Maluleke for AG job

The National Assembly has agreed to recommend Tsakani Maluleke as the suitable candidate for the position of the Auditor-General of South Africa.
The process of electing a new AG comes as Kimi Makwetu’s terms draws to a close at the end of November.
An ad hoc committee was set up earlier this year to find Makwetu’s replacement.
The committee recommended Maluleke for the top job on Tuesday.
“We have managed to execute our mandate in a manner which was fair, free and transparent. We further executed our mandate without fear, favour, nor prejudice in all regards,” the committee’s chairperson Sisi Tolashe told the House.
“After a rigorous process of searching the kind of person who will be suitable to lead this critical constitutional institution, we have unanimously agreed to recommend the name of Miss Tsakani Maluleke.”
The various political parties also made their declarations in support of the recommendation.

A total of 299 votes were in Maluleke’s favour.
“The recommendation of the appointment of Miss Tsakani Maluleke as Auditor-General of South Africa will be forwarded to the President,” House chairperson Mmatlala Boroto said.
Maluleke contended with Michael Sass, the CFO of the National Health Laboratory Services, and former SABC board member Rachel Kalidass.
If Maluleke secures the job, she’ll be the first woman to take up the hot seat.
