Ndabeni-Abrahams: Claims of Post Office interference ‘baseless’
Updated | By Neo Motloung
Minister of Communications Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams has described as “unfounded and baseless” allegations that she is interfering at the South African Post Office.
The minister was responding to claims that she introduced businessman, Andile Ngcaba, to the entity’s board in an alleged bid to partner on a highly lucrative R2.1 billion e-commerce platform.
The minister told journalists in Pretoria on Tuesday that she views the allegations against her as malicious and defamatory.
"I wish to category state that all these allegations are baseless, unfounded and devoid of any truth. The engagements that I had with the board of the Post Office were and are within the parameters of the law.
"As it is common knowledge, the law requires me to engage the board of the Post Office and others, from time to time. Perhaps this is something that has never been seen before," said Ndabeni-Abrahams.
The minister stressed that in her engagement with the board of the entity, there were no discussions about bringing on board any service providers.
