Negative municipal audits nothing new: Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma admits she is concerned over the latest municipal audit results.

At the same time she says these type of outcomes are nothing new.
Auditor-General Kimi Makwetu says only 18 municipalities out of 257 received clean audits in the 2017/18 financial year.
Makwetu released the local government audit outcomes in Pretoria on Wednesday.
Dlamini-Zuma says outcomes paint a grim picture.

She says the reasons why municipalities keep getting negative results need to be looked into.
"It's been going on for some time and I think we need to try and do something about. It's going to be a long haul to try and try and fix what is going on there.
"I think we need to look at a whole range of things. We need to first look at what capacity is there in these municipalities and what capabilities are there.
“Is it corruption? Is it lack of capacity? Is it a combination?"
