NICD captures Covid-19 deaths backlog

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) has noted a backlog in the Covid-19 mortality cases reported in the country.

Statistics released on Thursday show that a total of 159 deaths were recorded, with 51 occurring in the past 24-48 hours.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 deaths in the country to 92 989.

A further 5 920 new Covid-19 cases were recorded in just one day representing a 14.3% positivity rate. 

The total number of Covid-19 cases recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic stands at 3 546 808.
