Free State police have arrested nine suspects after a 25-year-old-man was killed in a mob justice incident in Bolata Village, Qwaqwa.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Tseki Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on a charge of murder.

“Taking law into one’s hands has never been a solution within any society to curb crime, when patrolling our villages, it doesn’t give us the right to assault any person suspected of having committed crime.

“The person must be apprehended and handed over to the police. Everyone is regarded as innocent until proven guilty before the court of law. I want to applaud the police for arrests made,” said Free State police commissioner Baile Motswenyane.
