No Gautrain train services during off peak period

Gautrain says it will not have a train services during its off-peak period on Monday.
This comes on the first day of the wage strike by members of the National Union Metalworkers of South Africa (Numsa).
However, bus services will not be affected.
“We will not have a train service during the off-peak period. The bus and mini bus service will not be affected by the strike and will operate as per the standard bus schedule,” says Gautrain spokesperson Kasagee Nayager.
Trains are expected to be on their track at 15 minutes intervals during the morning and afternoon peak times.

“The morning peak period is between 5:30 am and 9:00 and during this time trains will be available on the east, west and north south lines at every 15 minutes,” adds Nayager.
The afternoon peak time starts at 3pm.
Union Numsa is downing tools over a wage dispute with Bombela Operating Company.
The company is proposing a 4.1% wage increase, while Numsa wants an 8% wage increase.
