No injuries in fire at apartment block in Hillbrow

Johannesburg emergency services say there were no injuries after a fire broke out at an apartment block in Hillbrow.
Firefighters attended to the scene on the corner of Van der Merwe and Klein streets on Saturday afternoon.
This was the latest in a series of fires in the Joburg CBD.
On Wednesday, EMS teams battled a fire that ripped through the South African Revenue Service (Sars) building in Marshalltown, causing several street closures.
Last month, 77 people died, and more than 80 were left injured following a fire that gutted the Usindiso Building in Albert Street.
Shortly after the Usindiso building fire, another building went up in flames on Delvers Street.
Spokesperson for the Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Nana Radebe, said an unattended stove was the cause of the latest fire.
“Yesterday, just after 16:00, we received a call about a structural fire in Hillbrow. On arrival, we found a two-bedroom flat that had caught fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and everyone managed to be evacuated.
“The stove that was left unattended is the cause of the fire. We urge residents to take care of their appliances and never to leave their appliances unattended.
“The building is not closed as the fire only affected one apartment.”
