No reparations yet for victims of Joburg Eskom power cuts
Updated | By JacarandaFM News / Statement
Eskom has yet to consider attending to the grievances of the
families affected by the power outages that have lasted for several weeks in the
south and north of Johannesburg.
Joburg Mayor Herman Mashaba met with the board of Eskom on Monday to discuss immediate solutions to the blanket power cuts that have plagued communities in Soweto and other areas in the city recently.
Spokesperson for the mayor, Olebogeng Molatlhwa, says the issue of reparations for the aggrieved family members was not mentioned or discussed in the meeting with Eskom.
Mashaba’s meeting with the power utility follows his visit to Bramfischer, where angry residents spoke of the death of an 11-month-old baby as a result of inhaling paraffin fumes.
