The invitation for all interested parties to submit their nomination was published on Sunday.

“We have published an invitation for all interested parties and individuals to submit nominations for suitable persons for appointment to the Prasa board,” says Department of Transport spokesperson Ayanda Allie-Paine.

“We call on South Africans to place their skills and experience at our disposal, in order to build a passenger rail system that plays its rightful role as the backbone of our public transport system.”

The board of control will assume its duties at the end of the administrator’s tenure.

Prasa has been without a board for more than six months, since Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula fired all its members before the end of 2019.

The agency has since been placed under the administration of Bongiswize Mpondo.

Nominations for the Prasa board close on June 1.

“Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed, and successful candidates subjected to security clearance,” adds Allie-Paine.
