NPA indicts four apartheid cops for murder of slain MK veteran
Updated | By Laila Majiet
The National Prosecuting Authority has confirmed four apartheid police officers will appear in court for the murder of Nokuthula Simelane.
The NPA has decided to indict four members of the Soweto Special Branch for the murder of the ANC underground operative.
Simelane disappeared in September 1983 at the hands of the Soweto Security branch.
NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku says: "Three of the accused applied for amnesty at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. They were granted amnesty for kidnapping. They did not apply for amnesty for murder.
"There are reasonable prospects for a successful prosecution."
The accused will appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on 26 February.
