NPA to proceed with assault case against Given Mkhari, wife

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it will continue with the cases against well-known media personality Given Mkhari and his wife.
The couple is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrates court on Monday afternoon.
In a statement released on Monday morning, Mkhari and his wife Ipeleng confirmed an incident at the weekend but said both cases had been withdrawn.

The couple said they would deal with the matter privately.
But the NPA said the prosecutor in charge of the case decided that it would be in the interest of justice for both matters to proceed.

Mkhari has confirmed that an incident between himself & his wife did occur on Saturday night but both have since withdrawn the charges earlier laid.
The family will be resolving the matter at home
In a statement, Mkhari said he would not be appearing in court on Monday as he and his wife had withdrawn charges against each other.
He said the family have since taken the decision to resolve the matter at home.
