NSFAS in Parliament to explain R14 million payment to student
Updated | By JacarandaFM News
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), Walter Sisulu University and Intellimali will appear before the parliamentary committee on higher education and training on Wednesday.

The committee wants to get to the bottom of an erroneous R14.1 million payment to one student earlier this year.
The female student, identified as Sibongile Mani, should have received R1 400 as a recipient of a NSFAS food allowance, but received R14.1m instead.
Financial aid transactions at WSU are distributed by Intellimali on behalf of the university.
The student spent R818 000 before the mistake was discovered almost two months later.
The balance of the money has been retrieved.
Mani is being held liable for the outstanding amount.
NSFAS, Intellimali and WSU have appointed an audit firm to conduct a forensic investigation into the matter.
