NUM: Zola Tsotsi must go
Updated | By Olivia Phalaetsile
The National Union of Mineworkers has called on Public Enterprise minister Lynne Brown to fire Eskom board chairperson, Zola Tsotsi.
Tsotsi has reportedly been interfering with operational matters as well as signing certain documents on behalf of Eskom which undermines the CEO and other executives.
NUM acting national spokesperson Livhuwani Mammburu says they feel vindicated because they had objected to his reappointment.
"The NUM feels vindicated when we objected to the reappointment of Zola Tsotsi as Eskom Board Chairperson," he says.
It has been reported that the Eskom board had a meeting last week and tabled a vote of no confidence against Tsotsi.
NUM General secretary Frans Baleni says they urge Tsotsi to resign before he is removed by their members.
Two weeks ago Tsotsi announced the suspension of Eskom CEO Tshediso Matona and three other senior executive for an inquiry into the problems of Eskom to commence.
