NW cop in the dock for murder

A 48-year-old police officer from Nietverdiend is expected to appear in the Zeerust Magistrates’ Court on two counts of murder.

The warrant officer is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
Police say the man allegedly fired several shots, instantly killing a 30-year-old man and his 44-year-old estranged wife.
The wife is also a police officer stationed at Kopfontein border post.
Police spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone says the motive behind the shotting is not known.
“Subsequent to the incident, the suspect handed himself in to the police and the firearm that was allegedly used during the commission of the crime was confiscated. The motive of the incident is unknown at this stage and investigations into the matter are underway.”
