The North West Department of Education underspent by R100 million over the past six years.
This is according Parliament’s ad-hoc committee on the section 100 intervention in the North West.
The committee has instructed the department to provide a comprehensive infrastructure plan for the 2021/22 financial year.
“This is unacceptable because there are no adequate classrooms in the North West, there are no adequate sanitary facilities and learners are still struggling to go to school,” said the committee’s chairperson China Dodovu.
“For us as a committee, it’s unacceptable that they don’t spend the money allocated to them for infrastructure development,”
