Nxesi vows action over lack of workplace transformation
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Labour and Employment Minister Thulas Nxesi has warned there will be consequences for companies who do not fast-track employment equity and transformation.
Nxesi made the statement at the launch of the Employment Equity Commission (EEC) report in Tshwane on Tuesday afternoon.
The commission’s latest report has revealed that South Africa still has a long way to go when it comes to transformation in the workplace.

The white population still dominates top and senior management positions, despite only making up 9% of Economically Active Persons (EAP).
The report states that 65.5% of top management positions are occupied by white people, while 54.4% occupy senior management positions.
The black population makes up only 15.1% of top managers.
"It is clear that we need to increase therefore the risk of non compliance so that people know that there are consequences.
“When the risk of being caught is very low, many of the employers are not going to comply,” said Nxesi.
