One person has been injured in a gas explosion at a refrigerator factory in Chloorkop, in the Kempton Park area.
The blast happened at the Zero Appliances factory on Friday.
Spokesperson William Ntladi says a 48kg gas cylinder containing ammonia exploded at the factory.
"Yes, we can confirm that one adult male sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for medical treatment," he said.
The cause of the incident is being investigated.
According to the company's website, the factory specialises in designing and manufacturing high-quality compressor and absorption refrigerators and freezers.
The incident comes in the same week as Johannesburg’s CBD was hit by a suspected gas explosion, killing at least one person and leaving scores injured.
