Sun says the driver could not produce the necessary documents to transport the bodies.
The Gauteng Health Department says a private undertaker was transporting the bodies from Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital to Olifantsvlei Cemetery for pauper’s burials.
"No injuries were reported and the bodies are still intact," says provincial health spokesperson Lesemang Matuka.
He says: "The department will launch an investigation to establish why the bodies were transported in an open trailer.”
This is a developing story. More details to follow.
