OR Tambo heist gang sentenced

The men accused of pulling off a
daring heist at OR Tambo International Airport in March have been sentenced in
the High Court in Johannesburg.

The men were sentenced on Monday.
The men stole nearly R200 million in foreign currency from O.R. Tambo International Airport.
Sibusiso Mnisi is sentenced to 15 years imprisonment, Prince Raphael Dube to 25 years and 20 years for France Manaka.
Gauteng National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA) Phindi Mjonondwane says eight suspects were initially arrested at the start of the case, however, charges were withdrawn against four of the accused.

"However accused number was acquitted by the court after a trial was conducted," Mjonondwane says.
She says the sentencing is a victory for the NPA.
"As it reflects the seriousness of the criminal justice in fighting violent crimes like cash-in-transit robberies, more especially robberies that happens in our national key points like the OR Tambo airport. As this crime has adverse effects on our economy."
