EFF supporters are unhappy after a picture of party leaders Julius Malema and Floyd Shivambu was shown at the Vodacom Journalist of the Year awards, captioned "abusers of democracy".

The DA’s provincial leader Jacques Smalle - who opened the case - says he cannot name exactly who the charges are against as investigations are still ongoing.

"We have got video footage and one of those people that has been involved is a name that is known to us, he's councillor at the Polokwane municipality which we'd like investigations to be done into.

"I do understand that investigations could be sensitive at this stage," Smalle says.

He adds that goods may also have been stolen during the incident.

"Some of the individuals not only caused havoc but also looted from the store.”
