Organisations protest against Marabastad Home Affairs corruption

Corruption Watch and the African Diaspora Forum have launched a report on corruption at Marabastad Home Affairs in Pretoria.

The Diaspora Forum says it's clear the South African government doesn't care about migrants.
The report found that officials at the Marabastad Home Affairs office demand the payment of bribes to issue documentation.
Former Home Affairs Director General and Corruption Watch Chairperson, Mavuso Msimang says the department is failing to curb corruption.
"We failed completely, to a very large extent, to crack corruption and that was largely because we received money from National Treasury to improve passports. We improved our passports, there was never anything seriously wrong with our passports," says Msimang.
