Outrage as boys cut off pitbull’s ears
(Warning: This article contains graphic images) The Animal Welfare Society has called for the harshest possible penalty to be given to two Cape Town teens who cut off the ears of a pitbull dog.
The two Mitchells Plain boys admitted to cutting off the ears of the 1-year-old dog known as Cooper.
The NGO’s Allan Perrins of Animal Welfare Society says it is the worst form of animal cruelty he has seen.
“This is the most heinous acts of animal cruelty that we have encountered of all times and one can’t even begin the imagine the pain and suffering that this poor dog would’ve gone through. For that reason alone this is a deliberate act of cruelty deserves to be met with harshest sanctions possible.”
Perrins says the two suspects, aged 17 and 19, admitted to tying the dog’s legs and taping its mouth shut with duct tape before cutting off the ears.
“It is against the law to mutilate an animal in any way and to crop a dog’s ears or to duct tape tail is a criminal act and unlawful.
The organisation has opened a case of animal cruelty against the two teens.
“The Animal Welfare Society has already opened a case of animal cruelty against the two perpetrators, they have made a voluntary submission and admitting guilt of cutting the dog’s ears without administrating anesthetic.”
