Outrage over alleged rape of girl (2) at George Mukhari Hospital
Updated | By Anastasi Mokgobu
Civil society organisation #NotInMyName is set to march to the Dr George Mukhari Hospital in Tshwane on Friday in connection with the alleged rape of a 2-year-old girl.

The girl was apparently rape while in isolation for Covid-19.
The organisation’s Zanele Sibanyoni says the mother noticed something amiss after her daughter was discharged from the hospital.
"A simple nappy change and discovery of fluid on her person led to a visit to KT Motubatse Clinic confirming that the child had been molested," says Sibanyoni.
She says they want answers from the hospital.
"It is disconcerting that SAPS did not respond speedily when the hospital called to report the incident. We want to know if any official arrests have been made. How many people were authorized to access to the child whilst in isolation?”
She says the incident has led to serious concerns over the safety of patients at the hospital.
"If a two years old can be raped in a hospital it means people going for operation who are normally asleep anything can happen to them. If the hospital is safe why was the child raped and what is the way forward?”
