Over 30 million people now vaccinated against Covid-19 in SA
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
South Africa has reached the 30 million mark of people having received at least one vaccination against Covid-19.
The country crossed the milestone on Wednesday, reporting that a total of 30 031 894 people have now had at least one of these jabs.
This was revealed in the latest Covid-19 data released by the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD).
Gauteng, the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal account for more than 17 million of those doses administered.
A total of 2.7 million Pfizer vaccines have been administered since the start of the campaign a year ago - with 12.8 million being first doses.
The Pfizer second dose accounts for over 9.7 million vaccines administered.

The number of Johnson and Johnson vaccines administered across the country stands at 7.35 million.
In 2021, the government set out a target of inoculating at least 70% of the population to reach herd immunity by December.
However, that target is far from being achieved and on Wednesday, only 69 390 people were vaccinated - far less than government's initial garget of vaccinating 250 000 people a day.
#COVID19 UPDATE: 39,892 tests were conducted in the last 24hrs, with 4,502 new cases, representing an 11.3% positivity rate. Today, @HealthZA reports 175 deaths, of which 15 occurred in the past 24-48 hours. Total fatalities are 95,463 to date. More here: https://t.co/NToqSemXUS pic.twitter.com/zCYCobchbM
