Over 40k bags of litter collected from Durban's beaches

eThekwini says more than 40 000 bags of litter were collected during mass clean up operations across Durban's beaches over the Easter weekend.
Municipal employees, organisations and volunteers have been picking up plastic waste, reeds and debris that washed up on the shoreline during the floods.
The city says crews began working on Good Friday and collected some 12 000 bags of rubbish from city's northern beaches, including Umhlanga, uMdloti, and Westbrook.

They picked up over 8 000 from Pipeline and Amanzimtoti beaches.
Teams also worked on the Durban beachfront and on the Bluff.
eThekwini says all beaches remain closed until the quality of water has improved.
