Members of the previous board resigned late last year when the ad-hoc committee - appointed to look into the competency of the board - started their investigation.

The committee says it will first seek legal advice on the process before considering any candidates.

Former chairperson of the board, Mbulaheni Maguvhe, was the last member to resign after the board was heavily criticised for various decisions mainly relating to the former COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng.

A leaked working document by the ad-hoc committee states, among other things, that the SABC could be ordered to pay back up to R5 billion in wasteful expenditure.
