Parliament welcomes arrest in Precious Ramabulana murder

The Speaker and presiding officers in Parliament have welcomed the arrest of a suspect over the murder of Limpopo student, Precious Ramabulana.

On Thursday, the Minister of Police, Bheke Cele said the man accused of stabbing Ramabulana 52 times is cooperating with police.

In a statement, Speaker Thandi Modise and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces (NCOP), Amos Masondo commended the police "for their relentless efforts that saw the swift arrest" of the suspect.
“No parent should ever have bury a child; it is too great a pain one can ever imagine. We hope that the arrest of the suspect will ultimately lead to a clear conviction and see justice served to once again send a strong message of zero tolerance for gender-based violence,” said the presiding officers.
The Portfolio Committee on Women, Youth, and Persons with Disabilities also welcomed the arrest of the alleged perpetrator.
