Parliament welcomes ConCourt's dismissal of Mkhwebane rescission application

National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has welcomed the Constitutional Court's order dismissing suspended public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane's second rescission application.
Mkhwebane had returned to the apex court to rescind the court’s decision not to rescind its February judgment, where it upheld the separation of powers arguments regarding the appointment of a impeachment committee.
The court had in May dismissed Mkhwebane’s application for a rescission, stating that it did not establish any rescindable errors in the court’s judgment and that no exceptional circumstances existed that warranted rescission of its decision.
The apex court delivered its judgement on Wednesday, dismissing her second application as an abuse of process of the court.
Mkhwebane was ordered to pay the costs in her personal capacity.
