Party funding: Ramaphosa, Motsepe donates to ANC, Oppenheimer donates to DA, ActionSA

Financially troubled ANC received R366 000 from Cyril Ramaphosa, while Patrice Motsepe’s African Rainbow Minerals donated R5.8 million.
The Independent Electoral Commission has released a second report into political party funding, according to the IEC Section 9(3) of the Political Party Funding Act 6 of 2018 require all registered political parties to disclose donations above the R100 000 threshold.
Financially troubled ANC received R366 000 from Cyril Ramaphosa, while Patrice Motsepe’s African Rainbow Minerals donated R5.8 million.
The DA and Action SA received a combined total of R30 million from Naspers, Oppenheimer family and businessman Martin Moshal.
The IEC says the donations were for the recent local government elections and over 300 parties did not disclose their funders including the EFF.
In total, the ANC received R22.6 million, DA R16.8 million, Action SA R16.9 million, ACDP R235 000.00, Good Party R122 900.00 and R112 386.04 for AIM based in Eastern Cape.
