‘Partying councillor’ shocks Limpopo ANC
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo has expressed its shock at the arrest of a Makhado councillor for breaching the lockdown regulations.
The ANC councillor was arrested on Thursday and released on R1000 bail.
She is expected to appear in the Makhado Magistrate’s Court again on Friday.
The 39-year-old councillor was arrested after a video emerged on social media of her birthday celebrations.
In the video the jovial ANC councillor, who is holding a bottle of champagne, can be heard screaming "uthini uCele" (what is Cele saying), referring to Police Minister Bheki Cele.

Cele has been a vocal supporter of the lockdown regulations which bans the transport and sale of alcohol.
ANC regional secretary Anderson Mudunungu says they met with councillor on Friday morning.
"The councillor must recuse herself from the activities of the municipality with immediate effect until the court finalizes the matter and she must issue a public apology through electronic and print media and all forms of social media.”
She will also be docked one month’s salary and her conduct will be referred to the party’s integrity committee.
In the meantime, the ANC will appoint a councillor to act on her behalf.
