A litre of petrol will increase by R1.27 per/litre, and diesel will increase by 30.38 cents per litre.

The price of illuminating paraffin will increase by between 13 cents per litre at wholesale level and 17 cents a litre at retail level.

Spokesperson, Robert Maake says the price increases are due to two main reasons, namely “the lower petrol inventory levels globally and closure of refineries in some countries for seasonal maintenance.”

"The weaker rand against the US dollar contributed more than 50 cents to the prices of all petroleum products and the LPG Gas has increased due to the higher freight rates and prices of propane and butane in the international markets," he adds.

The price increases will be effective from 1 March 2023.
