Petrol price expected to drop again in July
Updated | By Princess Mahogo
The Automobile Association says the latest data indicates a second month of lower petrol prices in July.
Data shows we can expect a decrease between 17 and 25 cents a litre.
The cost of illuminating paraffin is also set to drop, by three cents.
But there is no expected relief for diesel users as the price is set to go up by 20 cents a litre.
The Automobile Association says the predictions are based on the latest unaudited month-end data from the Central Energy Fund.
“A decrease to the price of petrol is naturally welcome news, and will provide some relief to embattled consumers," says spokesperson Layton Beard.
"The increase to diesel, though, means input costs in, amongst other sectors, the agricultural and manufacturing sectors, are also likely to increase, which may result in higher prices for consumers."
Beard says international oil prices negatively impact diesel, while the exchange rate of the dollar tips in favour of lowering petrol prices.
