Police committee chair calls for suspension of CI officials
Updated | By Cliff Shiko
The chairperson of Parliament’s Portfolio Committee on Police has called for the suspension of all senior Crime Intelligence officials who have been arrested.

Ian Cameron's call comes in the wake of the arrest of Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo on allegations of fraud and corruption.
Khumalo and co-accused appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court last week.
Accused number two, Philani Lushaba, remained in custody due to another pending corruption case.
Cameron said the suspensions will ensure that investigations can proceed thoroughly, independently, and fairly.
“The sanctity of the investigations is dependent not only on justice being done, but also on the appearance that justice is done," he said.
"It is essential for the credibility of the investigations as well as the SAPS reputation that arrested senior officers are suspended until the conclusion of the investigations.”
