Police dismiss child kidnapping reports as ‘fake news’

Gauteng police say children in Katlehong are safe and there is no need for parents to panic.

This comes after a video of a Katlehong metro police officer calling on people to fetch children from school as several kids were allegedly kidnapped by Nigerians.

Gauteng police spokesperson Kay Makhubela says any reports of kidnapped children is fake news.
He warns that people posting unverified information will be arrested.

"Schools are going normally particularly in schools where they were alleging that kids were kidnapped and schools are burning. Normal schools is going on.
"People are putting pressure for society to panic so that they can go and remove their kids from school."
