Shops looted in Katlehong, Thokoza

The Katlehong community is the latest to fall victim to the attacks on local businesses as protesters struck over night.
Sontonga Mall and Letsoho Mall on the East Rand were targeted in the late hours of Tuesday night.
Police arrested at least 14 suspects.
"A group of people went to the mall and they looted the shops but while they were looting police managed to arrest 14 people while they were inside the furniture shop," says provincial police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini.

In neighbouring Thokoza, another 28 suspects were arrested on charges of public violence.
"It was a group of people that we believe they intended to loot the local shops."
The total number of people arrested since Sunday has reached 189.
"Some of these suspects have appeared in court," he adds.
