The crash left one person dead and several others with critical injuries.
Johannesburg metro police spokesperson Xolani Fihla says the driver of the bakkie fled the scene.
“The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident had occurred, and he is still on the run. No arrests have been made yet and a case of culpable homicide has been opened at Douglasdale Police Station for further investigation.”
Emer-G-Med’s spokesperson Kyle van Reenen says the bakkie overturned.
“Twenty-one people have been left with critical injuries and a male aged approximately 30-years-old suffered fatal injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
