Two suspected robbers were shot and killed during a service at Querentia Ministry Church in Wierda Park, Centurion, on Sunday.
It is alleged that three armed suspects stormed the church, while the congregants were attending a service, and robbed them of their personal belongings.
One of the congregants, who has been confirmed as Pieter van der Westhuizen, shot and killed two of the suspects.
According to her legal representative Ullrich Roux, Van Der Westhuizen was carrying a licensed firearm.
He is the brother of the late Springbok rugby player, Joost van der Westhuizen.
