Provincial police spokesperson Leonard Hlathi says the woman was attacked while walking to work.

"She told police that it was still dark when she saw someone walking in front of her and she thought it was another woman apparently also going to work.

“However, when she got closer, she realised that it was a male person and suddenly, the suspect produced a knife, forced her to the graveyard where he raped her.”

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the police have arrested a man in connection with the rape of a 27-year-old woman near eMalahleni on Sunday.

The suspect appeared in the local magistrate’s court on Thursday and his case was postponed to Wednesday for a formal bail application.
