The magistrate was declared dead at the scene after he was shot several times.
Police have launched an investigation into the killing of a Cullinan magistrate on Wednesday.
The magistrate, who has since been identified as Victor Mabunda, was shot and killed moments after he arrived at his home in Bronkhorstspruit, east of Pretoria.
At this stage, police have limited information saying the investigation will determine exactly what happened.
The victim was shot several times and was declared dead on the scene.
Apart from determining who the suspects are, police are also trying to determine why the judge was shot.
"We are looking at the motive for the shooting," says Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, "we don't know why he was shot."
Dlamini explains nothing was stolen during the incident.
Dlamini was unable to confirm the identity of the magistrate.
