Law enforcement officers joined forces and stopped almost every single vehicle coming through the road-block.
Metro police could be seen patrolling along the sides of the highway.
Deputy Provincial Police Commissioner Eric Nkuna said the safety of South Africans is a priority ahead of the Easter celebrations.
"We just want to make sure that, at least, people remain safe. The way I have seen it here, it's just thumbs-up, they are happy about what we are doing here," Nkuna said.
