POPCRU mum on Zuma support
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
Police union POPCRU has declined to comment on its support for President Jacob Zuma.
All eyes have been on the St George's Hotel in Irene where the ANC's National Executive Committee has been meeting.
There is a staunch debate on whether President Zuma should be removed or not.
In its own post NEC press briefing, POPCRU says it addressed the issues of factionalism, the Hawks and the state capture report.
POPCRU General Secretary Nkosinathi Theledi was pushed for an answer on whether the union wants President Jacob Zuma to step down.
"That process will unfold. I think there's already an initiated process for that movement to go that route, to engage intensely. It's our concern. The ANC's challenges are the federation's challenges. We have to be in a position to address them all together, robustly," says Theledi.
The union's Deputy President, Nkosanathi Mabhida, echoed these sentiments.
"We are going to engage the ANC in-house about our views as an organisation," says Mabhida.
