The
Passenger Rail Agency (Prasa) has confirmed it has placed four of its executives on special leave pending a disciplinary process.
According to Prasa's Group Chief Strategy Officer, Sipho Sithole the board, under Khanyisile Kweyama, has decided it's time those implicated in wrongdoing give answers.
The suspended executives are company secretary, Lindikaya Zide; Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chris Mbatha; Chief executive Officer (CEO) of Corporate Real Estate, Tara Ngubane; and the General Manager (GM) of Enterprise Risk, Tumi Mohube.
"The allegations of improper, irregular, corrupt, and fruitless and wasteful expenditure are contained in various reports that have been produced after investigations by appropriately qualified and experienced professionals and have been submitted to the board of control," the company said in a statement.

An Auditor General (AG) report in 2018 revealed that Prasa had incurred a loss of R924 million.
In 2015, the Public Protector released a report into irregular tender processes at the passenger rail agency.
Sithole said the four are still presumed innocent until proven guilty and will be given a fair chance to respond to the allegations.
He said Prasa will hold a meeting on Monday to discuss who will temporarily replace the executives during this process.
