President Ramaphosa ‘not entirely clean’ - analyst
Updated | By Sinethemba Madolo
Political analyst Ralph Mathekga believes the findings made against President Cyril Ramaphosa by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane may leave a stain on his term as head of state.
On Friday, Mkhwebane found that President Ramaphosa deliberately misled Parliament.
This follows a complaint by Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane and two others on an answer given by Ramaphosa in Parliament on a R500 000 donation by Bosasa to his campaign to be elected president of the African National Congress (ANC) in 2017.
Mathekga says the findings will weaken him inside the ANC.

"No doubt within the ANC, the president will find pressure with the faction that never wanted him. Certainly, they will be a little more emboldened with something like this. His anti-corruption message has assumed been stained by this.
"It makes more susceptible to compromise. It does actually say: ‘He's just relevantly clean but not entirely’."
Mathekga says the president needs to indicate as soon as possible if he intends on taking the findings on review.
"These are things that require immediate communication.”
