President Zuma appoints SABC Interim Board
Updated | By Pieter van der Merwe
President Jacob Zuma has appointed 5 members to the SABC's Interim Board for a period of 6 months.
The members included in the board were recommended by the National Assembly after the previous board was dissolved.
Zuma appointed Khanyisile Kweyama as the Interim Board Chairperson and Mathatha Tsedu as Deputy Chairperson.
John Matisson, Febe Potgieter-Gqubule and Krish Naidoo are the remaining members appointed to the interim board.
The president also wished the board well in "revitalizing one of the most important national resources, the SABC".
Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Communications is meanwhile set to conduct an oversight visit at the public broadcaster this week.
According to a statement by Parliament, the committee wants to "establish the root causes of irregular, fruitless and wasteful expenditure" at the SABC.
The Communications Minister Faith Muthambi's head is also on the chopping block.
That's after the Ad-Hoc committee's final report recommended that action be taken against her.
