Probe into Doom-spraying prophet

The commission overseeing church activities in South Africa says it is aware of the incident where a pastor sprayed insect poison on churchgoers.

The Commission for the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Communities says they are investigating the incident after photos made the rounds on social media.

The man, reportedly a prophet from the Mountzion General Assembly in Limpopo, can be seen spraying congregants with insect poison to 'heal' them.

Commission chairperson Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva says they are appalled.

"He is practising harmful religious practises on unsuspecting congregants who truly believe that what they are going through with the pastor is a religious experience," says Mkhwanazi-Xaluva.

Mkhwanazi-Xaluva calls on churchgoers to come forward and lay official complaints.

"Since the participants are adults and they are willing participants, there is no legal framework that can stop them from doing what they are doing until and unless the participants complain," says Mkhwanazi-Xaluva.

According to the assembly's Facebook page, Prophet Lethebo Rabalago called on people to come forward so he could heal them with Doom.
