uMkhonto weSizwe Military Veterans Association (MKVA), the ANCYL and the Congress of South African Students (Cosas), have descended on Luthuli House in 'defense' of the party.
ANC spokesperson Khusela Sangoni says the ruling party had nothing planned at Luthuli House. However when people started making their way to the CBD, the party felt it important to make its presence felt.
"When we saw supporters coming to Luthuli House, the leadership felt it necessary to take out one of the trucks so they may address the masses."
"We also appeal for those partaking in the march to exercise maximum restraint."
